30 songs in 30 days: #23 – “Golden Boy” (Nadav Guedj)

Day 23: A song that you want to play at your wedding

In an earlier post I briefly explained the Eurovision Song Contest as the source of one of my song choices in this challenge. Today’s entry, “Golden Boy,” was also born from ESC. I’ll warn you ahead of time, my selection makes absolutely no sense for this category. A wedding is, by definition, the uniting of two people into a new fundamental family unit. “Golden Boy” is, very obviously from the lyrics, a song about a man’s efforts to get over a broken heart. Kind of the opposite, no? Well, tough. As soon as SO and I heard this song, we knew what we’d need to do one day. For us, being the anti-traditionalists that we are, we simply must feature this song at our unity celebration, if we choose to have one. It’s funny, catchy, danceable, and has absolutely nothing to do with weddings. Never mind the lines, “Gonna dance tonight/Forget her” or “Pull me baby/I’m your trigger.” It’s our wedding. We do what we want.
